Photoshop is a remarkably flexible program. I’ve painted in it for years. I’m not sure I’m the best person to talk to in regards to technique, but there are many other fine people online who share such information. Deviant Art has many great process and tutorials from brilliant artists Like Alexds1 and Snake Toast. I’ve been using Thundercakes’s brush set, which has been a pretty awesome way to paint.. Aaron Diaz’s tumblr is one of the best resources for illustration and comic stuff that I’ve come across. He does have an example page of how he paints in the archive somewhere, which I found very helpful.

Meanwhile the best thing is just to dig in. Experiment and see what works and what doesn’t for you. It’s such a big program and everyone works differently. I prefer to paint more like I would with oils or acrylics, but some people make it into its own thing entirely. I can’t believe you did this in Photoshop! I’m still learning how to use my graphic tablet with Photoshop/Illustrator to actually create original art (as opposed to editing works that have been scanned in.) If you’re willing, I’d love to chat with you sometime about how you do it – just to get some ideas that might help me get started.
